The 1877 International Association and the Demise of Columbus’s First Buckeyes
In 1877, the word Buckeyes in Columbus had nothing to do with The Ohio State University. The institution on Neil Avenue existed, but it was still the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College—barely a hundred students and a baseball team called the Franklins.
