Is it August yet ?

We3511a
All week I've been coming home tired and no mood to post anything. The summer reading programs have started at the library I work at. Plus all the summer people are showing up too! The worst part about the summer people, the one I was hoping would stay away, returned. Ugh!

So it's 4th of July weekend. I'm not sure who's going have the biggest firework. Macy's or it will be at the Yankees and Red Sox game. Red Soxs already had a bench clearing brawl couple weeks ago. So why not have one this weekend?

A thunderstorm is coming, so I have to make this short for tonight.

Another year is -

Another year is paid for this blog. My credit card bill came today with a $89.50 charge from Six Apart. Money well spent since I do enjoy blogging.

The artwork above is something I create on the Gateway computer last night using Photoshop Elements. I was just in the mood to have a little fun. Actually it came out pretty good. I'll transfers it over to Mac for a few more tweaks.

Sometimes -

You know, sometimes the perfectly exposure picture is boring!  Occasional it does paid to be on the darkside or on lightside. Took this picture last friday, sitting outside eating my lunch. Could have spent all afternoon outside.

However-

I wanted to learn more about Painter Essential and what I could create with it. Spent the afternoon figuring out what exactly I could do with the brushes. Drawing on a paper and drawing with a graphic tablet are two different things. At least I don't feel bad about wasting stuff. Somehow manage to come up with something interesting art work. Everything is abstract since I deal with real stuff in the photos and poems.

Yes there's in the abstract paintings or artworks but why does everything have to reveal ? Life should have a bit of mystery to it. Another thing I'm doing with the projects I do with Painter, is bring them into Photoshop. There I can adjust the color a bit or take one my abstract photos and layer it on the artwork. Gives the painting a wonderful dimension to it. It's an aspect I'm going explore this summer. Would love to tried create new texture using paper and other things.

I'll post one the artworks tomorrow.

Crack, Boom and got luckly in a way.

Well yesterday was an interesting day. Found out around 11am that my area was under a tornado watch untill 6pm. Then later on Noaa put us a under a thunderstorm watch too. Then storms didn't really show up in the area untill 6 but most of them went either around us and just miss us. Yet they were close that it kept me off the computer for the night. Also cause the electric to go out for a bit.

However!

Around 9pm, one storm did pass through with one great light show. I just sat on the floor and watch a couple streaks arc across the sky. Once that left, the air was much cooler, Which is good for the people in some parts of Wayne County, They got hammered by the storms via hail and wind. The local weatherguy brought in a bag of hail that Father callected for him. They were almost two inches big! They had on the news too, people who at a supermarket when then hail came . When it was done, the parking lot was white.  There is still some area with any power. If all goes well, they'll get it back tommorrow.

My library has been having an interesting visitor lately. A black bear!

But he or she needs stop coming around real soon. School will be ending soon, so more kids will be coming to library. (Unless the gas prices keeps them ) There's a few who would tried to say to the bear. My co-worker had a bear who went into her a garage and help itself to the garabge. The month of June is normal the time the bears like to wander around, well this year. They are really wandering around.

It's hot

Clouds3165b

Oh what a hot weekend!!

It's been been pretty in the 90s for most the weekend, which naturally lead to me to watching the radar Sunday afternoon. Most the storms either went north or south of me. Now the one around 7:30pm nailed this area with a pretty good show of lighting and thunder. Was hoping for one for tonight, hmm it looks like tomorrow will be show time.

The picture above was taken yesterday. It was one the storm that New Jersey. It did play around with the color to make the trees all black. Also a good way to hide a telephone pole too.

With all the thunderstorms around on Sunday. Stay off the computer and spent the afternoon revising poems.  These poems came from a notebook that was started a couple years ago. For some reason, I never revise them.  So it was interesting, since my voice in the poem has change since then. Couple were x off and won't be revise at all. They just didn't seem right now.

Great Weekend

Waitmommyjpg

It's a great weekend when you have baby turkeys to photograph. They are going down my front steps trying to catch up with Mommy. The mother brought then around a few times over the weekend. The funny part about them, they kinda look like baby ducks too.

Another good thing about the weekend, the last two days were above 70F and sunny!! it was another beautiful today with a T-storm passing through late in the afternoon. The other two went north of us when they came through earlier.

Maybepurple

Having a chuckle with this flower. It's a purple flower who for the most part is blue on all the photos I took of it tonight. A few tweaks on the camera and in Photoshop got the purple to come out some more. I have the same trouble with my purple African violets. Must be the purple coloring in the flower that goofs the cameras up. Because it did it with my Kodak too.

What's next - snowflakes

Brr... It's been chiily not warm this past week. A few patron who came in today , pretty much said the same comment. "It feels like winter." Actually according to Mom, there was a patch of frost on the roof when she got up. Considering  when I woke up around 1:30 am becaase I was cold, not surprising. Already set the heat at 60 for tonight.

Got lucky this time and my cold was only a minor one. Did manage to type up five poems on Sunday. Please what I have so far this year. There's enough poems now I can do a printing session on Wednesday. Oh yes that rocks. As for the photography, nothing really new. Blame that on my cold and the rainy weather we been having. Guess I'll have to come up with something.

Being Quiet

Sorta being quiet this week. I get this way once and awhile and coming down with a cold is not helping either. Plus last night, Blogger was soooo slooow with loading blogs. That's why some blogs didn't get any comments last night. Did write one good poem this week. Still haven't seen a baby fawn yet. Have been watching the wolf pups on the web cam, they are so cute!

Then buying a computer game call Peggle to play on the iMac does make me a more quiet person. See I play the game instead working on photos and poems. It's a fun and great game. Glad I brought it, I love hearing a bit of Beethoven's Ode of Joy when I win a game.

So here's the new poem, enjoy.

Silent voice - is not really silent.
More of a black knife against the perfect sky.

In the act itself a slight shifted to peace
More belong to me than out there.
All the while, I sit here with my reflection
neither smiling nor frowning for this day.

Holding on to an idea,
                  who’s greater than God

but is God, before me in silent grace.

They are so cute!!-

Rainy day and new leaves

It always amazes me, how fast the leaves all suddenly fill in the empty spaces. I woke up this morning and wow! The trees have colors again which was more dramatic with grey sky and falling rain.Yes, I should have taken a picture but it was one those morning where I could slept for another hour. At these the new leaves will have some much needed rain to help them fill in some more. Might be a rainy week and I'm in the  mood for that.

Still waiting for the hummingbird to show up, last year they came today. Not this year. There has been a report from one the library's patrons of a fawn already. Poor thing, it must cold today with the chilly day. I'm hoping for this one doe to leave her fawn in the side yard. Got some cute pictures and yes, when the mother is gone. I do keep an eye on the fawn for her.
