Last day of Oct.

Last day of October. In couple hours it will be Nov. 1st. Yea! So far had only six tricker- treaters.

Looking forward to November, things quieted down. All the leaves will be done, taking away some of the noise out the wind. There is something about standing in the starkness and knowing you are really just atom compare to the universe. The number of thing to photograph is cut down, so the walks will return to writing poems. Still bring the camera along untill it gets too cold.

I'm hoping for a little snow for November. It does make me happy to see snowflakes falling and I am missing it. Don't worry, I don't want a big dump just enought hour of falling snowflakes. With me sitting at my desk, working on poems and now then snapping a photo too.

Bare trees

Seasonend

A front came roaring through last night and took a lot leaves done. Don't mind me, I just feel like being quiet for awhile.

Oh Thank You internet company

I would be writing this via my Typepad account but my internet company lines are busy. That’s the problems with dial up sometimes. Well it’s usually pretty good. Now if I can only get my parents to please get rid of voice mail oh the phone. I'll be a lot happier. Sometimes if somebody calls, I get knock off because I think the voice mail is trying to pick up. Well I don’t, this problem started when they got voice mail. Ugh So because of it, I couldn’t post my post last night. Then they last night must have problems with the phone lines. Oh well.

The colors are simple breathtaking right now. I wish I didn’t have to work this week. I wish Fri would just come tomorrow. Spend some time just taking pictures. Now what I’m going to do with all those pictures is another story. I’m sure everybody else is doing that.If you are not, shame on you!

I feel bad for all those who are losing their homes to the wildfire in California. I don’t think I could stand losing all my poetry stuff  and all my photos files. Plus a few other things. People say that just materials things and life is more important. But what if you life depended on these things.  What if, you biggest joy is looking at these “materials” and knowing you accomplished something in your life worthwhile ?

Yea, material stuff can be cheap compare to life

But sometimes, people are even cheaper with your life.

Life's big computer question

Do I get a Mac or do I get another Gateway?

That’s why I haven’t posted anything over the weekend. I was too busy looking into Mac. I have admit, they are looking good right now. Well what started this whole business of Vista. Ugh, I’ve heard nothing but complaints about. Including the tech guy that comes and does work on the library’s computer.  He hates it. Normal I don’t have a problem learning a new operating systems but there’s too many people having problems at all levels. Technically, I still can get a computer with Xp, however with dentist bills. I have to put off buying the computer until after the new year.  Then I was under impression in the beginning of Jan, no more computers would be built with Xp. Now I have until June to get one with Xp.

However I didn’t find out about the extension until after I did some major research on the iMac. LOL!

Oh well but a part of me is leaning towards a Mac. The only program I can’t run is my Wordperfect program. With that, I’m going to keep on the old computer until it crashes or dies. Then buy a very cheap notebook, hopefully by then, vista got act straighten out or more wonderfully! REPLACE!!!! . Then either restall the one verison or get a updated one. All other programs I run, I can a Mac version of.

Well I have until Jan to figure something out! I really would like get another computer now. With the photos nows, I don’t have enough memory in the computer. Have gig but there’s times while running photoshop, I can tell I need more and I’m not putting any more money into this computer.

Half-Alive Tree

For some reason, not with my poems this week. I get this way sometimes. So I'll work on revising some recent ones. They always seem better untill I start hating them.

Glancing at the half-alive tree,
can’t say the words “half dead.”

When the leaves are groping for the sun
It’s because of life and not the hope
training it to do that, as if redefine its shape

Today, officially summer and why
is that fern becoming a fall yellow?
Rain came on Monday and the pulling thirst
can now stop, I should think for this hour.

Walking in sun, words and the notes of songbirds.
And today, who mourns their lost of love ones,
especially killed on soil not of their birth.
All the praise and glory don’t return the lives.
Slaughter like the stolen sheep, then left to haunt
the living who found them there and still must walk on.

It has all been said and written before this summer day.

So why did I write it.
Mea cupla -  simple for that.
To the unwritten God.

Who hopefully truer than the written one.
Then to forgive this sinner who on this day
forgot to care for her fellow walkers of earth.

Autumn

Leavesfall0718

Ah, this a poem that I now post every year

Autumn

Leaves are turning
on those mountains.
The years have passed.
Still in awe of a God.

In those childhood years,
on some other mountains.
Claim they were bowls,
of kind of colorful cereal.

Science can explain.
But can't take away
The awe and the slow fear.

Leaves are falling.
Touching me quietly.
Saying their goodbyes.
Branches, full of promises

Orange Leaves against the blue.

Leavesfall0717

The mediation of this fall day
is a mediation of color
Muted down and growing
softer by the passing hour.
Paring down to the emptiness.
But getting ahead myself
and I’m always doing that.
Enjoy the day and forget.

Part of this poem, came from reading Sharon's poem. I might still add a few more lines.

As if -

All is depending on those
few orange leaves, against the blue.
To hold this world together.

But wishes are heavy to hold.

When all you want is lightness of love,
caught by sun and dancing with the wind.

And no white  rock of reality
cutting into the  foot of the fool.

But the Earth -

Knows all the truth you told.
So where to hide, when the Earth
comes back and ask for no more words.
Then you look at the tree, bare branches.

Then both of you weep for what is lost
to time and what was lost to the human hand.

I'll tried this too!

Thanks to Sharon I found out about a new poetry group I can tried. It's call Totally Optional Prompts . This time I won't expect too much out of them. I think thats what happen with Poetry Thursday, I expected too much from the group. I think I have posted this poem before but I not going search my blog for the post. If there's any grammar errors, they are unintentional. I have a learning disability.

Her couple thoughts, not mine
ascend into the strands of clouds
Parting from the Sunday’s grace
The sun ceases the light, except
for the thousands stars.

Where the feet traveled?
Have the steps chalk the marks
of corners and the street.
Or does this shepherd, now
have to located the lost ewe.

Too cozy for a walk today.

7522ag

I was too cozy with a book and tea to take my walk today. I would have brave the chill but when I left work, the skies turn overcast and the gusts had a bit of bite to them. The did come out later but then I enjoying my book. Which is Love & War in London:A Woman's Diary 1939-1942 by Olivia Cockett. Also started Mary Oliver's Thirst. Also remeber to clean up behind my desk, so can sleep without worry about setting the room on fire.

As you can. I change the look of the blog. I wanted another type of header the blog. I have the old one somewhere but I wanted to tried this one first. Hopefully it loads fast. I rather a blue background but I think sometimes it clashes with the photos. As for the artwork above, it's made of photos I've taken this past week. Rather please on how well it turn it.

Slamming back into Fall

Well Fall has slammed back into it's place again. Now hopefully it please stay here! Woke up to gusty winds that were doing a good job of taking down the color leaves. With wind too, the temperture wonderfully drop back into something normal. Howewer last night, I had the windows crack open and woke up at 3am to a very chilly room.  So got and threw the afghan across the bed and went back to sleep. (Needless to say I grumble at the alarm clock this morning.) Could have put the heat on but I know I have papers against the baseboard, behind the desk. Yea not clearing that out at 3am.

Ok will patrons stop bothering me until this post done.

Yea at work right now because somebody is sick or maybe not ;-) It was fun to shelf read while listening to the wind ripping around the building. Its sorta die down, and the air has a bite to it after all the very warm temps we been having. Hopefuly they are all gone!.

Ah! I'm free in 20 minutes. Go home, have a cup of tea and then go for a walk!
